Hi all have decided to blog my travels just on the off chance that anyone is interest and for myself as a record of where I've been and what I've seen.
Our first stop was Laidley where we camped at Lake Dyer about 3km out of town, was a really nice camping area reasonably priced with basic older but very clean ammenities.
we did a scenic day tour while there to Glen Rock Regional Park. We started the trip at Gatton Information Centre where we collected a map and all the necessary information that we needed. The drive meandered through the valley beside and over creeks passing through little villages and hamlets til we arrived at Glen Rock to find it closed due to the damage suffered in the 2011 and 2012 floods, was a little disappointed but its a good excuse to come back another time.
From Glen rock we headed back down the road for a picnic lunch at Junction View before taking a side trip to see some Aborginal Rock Carvings, sadly the track up to the carvings was very overgrown but the carvings very visible when we got to them.
We then headed back to civilization via Heifer Creek and MaMa Creek stopping at MaMa village for a wander around the old church and cemetary where of course I wish I could find out the stories behind some of the interesting headstones.
Our final stop was at Cunninghams Crest lookout where there are fantastic views over the whole of the Laidley Valley.
Every where we drove there were still lots of damage from the floods, broken fences washed out creek crossings and left behind rubbish, it must have been devastating for the people living there.
We spent ages being entertained by the flock of parrots feeding on the blossoms of the Grass Trees.
